GRSE wins $54 million deal to build multi-purpose vessels for German shipping company

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has secured an international contract, valued at approximately US$54 million, from Germany’s Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. The agreement involves the construction and delivery of four multi-purpose vessels. These ships will be planned, manufactured, and delivered over a span of 33 months from the initial contract signing.

GRSE had previously inked the initial deal with Carsten Rehder in mid-2024, marking a notable step in expanding its global portfolio. The vessels, each with a length of 120 mtr and a breadth of 17 mtr, will have a cargo capacity of 7,500 ton. Designed to accommodate various types of cargo, they will feature a single hold for bulk, general, and project cargoes, with an option to transport containers on the hatch covers.

One of the standout features of these ships is their ability to transport large windmill blades on deck, reflecting a versatile design that caters to both traditional and renewable energy industries. The contract also includes an option for GRSE to build an additional four vessels in the future, potentially doubling the value of the deal to $108 million.

This development further strengthens GRSE’s reputation in international shipbuilding, reinforcing its capabilities to deliver complex, multi-functional vessels to global clients.
