Noida International Airport (NIA) marked a significant milestone with the commencement of its commercial flight operations, welcoming its first scheduled IndiGo service from Lucknow. The inaugural flight arrived at the newly developed airport in Jewar after departing from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow earlier in the morning.
Following the arrival, the airport witnessed its first outbound commercial service, also bound for Lucknow. The flight carried residents from villages in the Jewar region whose land was acquired for the airport’s initial development phase, along with local representatives and senior officials associated with the project.
The launch of flight operations represents a major step in strengthening air connectivity across western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region. Conceived as one of India’s most ambitious aviation infrastructure projects, the airport is expected to play a key role in supporting regional economic growth, trade, tourism, and investment.
In its initial phase, Noida International Airport will serve domestic destinations, with international services planned for a later stage. To facilitate seamless passenger movement, the airport has put in place multiple ground transportation options, including taxi services, app-based ride-hailing platforms, and dedicated bus connections linking the airport with Delhi-NCR and several cities across northern India.
The start of commercial operations brings the long-awaited greenfield airport project into active service, paving the way for enhanced connectivity and providing a new aviation gateway for one of the country’s fastest-growing regions.
