JCB India has marked a significant achievement with the production and sale of its 600,000th machine, underscoring the company’s long-standing contribution to India’s infrastructure development over the past four decades. The milestone machine is a Backhoe Loader, a versatile piece of equipment that has become a mainstay across construction, infrastructure, agricultural, and rural development projects throughout the country.
The achievement reflects JCB India’s sustained growth in manufacturing, innovation, and customer engagement. Over the years, the company has established a robust manufacturing ecosystem in India, supported by an extensive supplier network and a product portfolio tailored to local operating conditions.
Today, JCB India operates six manufacturing facilities across the country, serving not only the domestic market but also acting as a strategic global production hub. Machines manufactured in India are exported to more than 135 countries worldwide, highlighting the country’s growing importance within JCB’s international operations.
Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director, JCB India, said, “This milestone is much more than a number. It reflects the trust that customers have placed in JCB over several decades. The Backhoe Loader, which marks this achievement, has become closely linked with India’s infrastructure and development journey. This milestone has been made possible by the enduring trust and support of our customers, dealers, suppliers, and stakeholders, who have been integral to our journey. Many of our partners now span second and third generations, reflecting strong, long-standing relationships built on shared values and mutual growth.”
Lord Bamford, Chairman, JCB , said: “JCB celebrated its 80th birthday last year and for nearly fifty of those eighty years, we’ve been selling JCBs to customers in India. I am delighted that our birthday milestone has been quickly followed with the 600,000th machine sale milestone in India. It is fitting that the 600,000th machine is a JCB Backhoe Loader, the machine that has contributed so much to building India’s infrastructure in recent decades. It is JCB’s most versatile product and our customers will continue to use the Backhoe Loader for many years to come to shape India’s future.”
Emphasising the company’s future outlook, Shetty added, “As the country continues to invest in infrastructure, we remain committed to supporting this growth through innovation, local manufacturing, and skill development. We are also focused on creating greater value for customers through reliable and fuel-efficient machines that deliver higher productivity and lower operating costs.”
JCB India continues to align its growth strategy with the Government’s Make in India initiative through investments in manufacturing, engineering, technology, and workforce development. The company is also expanding efforts to foster diversity and inclusion by increasing the participation of women across manufacturing, engineering, and leadership functions.
Beyond its industrial operations, JCB India remains actively engaged in community development through various CSR initiatives aimed at supporting livelihoods, promoting skill development, and creating opportunities for artisans and local communities.
As India accelerates its infrastructure-led growth agenda, JCB India aims to strengthen its contribution through advanced technology, local manufacturing capabilities, sustainable practices, and continued investment in skill development.
