Ashok Leyland unveils India’s first air suspension truck range for heavy commercial vehicles

Ashok Leyland has expanded its heavy commercial vehicle portfolio with the launch of India’s first range of trucks equipped with air suspension technology, introducing three new models aimed at improving payload capacity, ride comfort and operational efficiency.

The newly launched lineup includes the AVTR 4925 10×2 MAV, India’s first 49-tonne truck with air suspension offering a payload advantage of 1.5 tonnes, the AVTR 4625 10×2 MAV, India’s first 46-tonne truck with a payload advantage of 4 tonnes, and the AVTR 4525 8×2 MAV, India’s first 45-tonne truck that also delivers up to 4 tonnes of additional payload capacity.

The company said the new range has been developed to help fleet operators maximise productivity while maintaining a competitive total cost of ownership. By combining higher payload capability with minimal additional upfront investment, the trucks are designed to improve earning potential without compromising efficiency or reliability.

The air suspension system enhances vehicle stability under load while significantly reducing vibrations and road shocks, resulting in a smoother ride over uneven terrain. The maintenance-free rear suspension eliminates the need for greasing, while improved tyre life and better load handling are expected to lower operating costs over the vehicle’s lifecycle.

Commenting on the launch, Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland, said, “Ashok Leyland has always been a technology leader in the Indian CV industry. Since our inception we have been known for introducing technology solutions that create meaningful value for customers. With the launch of the new Air Suspension technology in trucks, we are reinforcing that position. These new trucks offer best in class payload capability, improved comfort, and better performance, helping our customers improve productivity and profitability”.

Highlighting the customer benefits, Sanjeev Kumar, President MHCV, Ashok Leyland, added, “Customers today are looking for vehicles that provide better efficiency, reliability, and value throughout their operations. Our new air suspension range has been developed keeping these requirements in mind. With benefits such as improved vehicle stability, reduced vibrations, superior ride comfort, and improved tyre life, these trucks are designed to deliver a better ownership experience for customers”.

Available in both cowl and cabin configurations with multiple loading span options, the new truck range caters to a wide range of application requirements. Every model comes equipped with Intelligent Vehicle Acceleration Control (iVAC) and Automatic Traction Control (ATC) as standard, supporting improved fuel efficiency and enhanced traction across varying road conditions.

With the introduction of air suspension technology in the heavy truck segment, Ashok Leyland aims to further strengthen its position in the commercial vehicle market by offering higher productivity, improved driver comfort and greater profitability for fleet operators.
