CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd has commenced operations at its new greenfield power transformer manufacturing facility in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, with the rollout of its first power transformer. Spread across 50 acres, the facility is positioned as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing plant, designed to produce transformers ranging from 220 kV to 1200 kV class.
The facility has been developed with a monthly production capacity of 35 power transformers and is expected to strengthen CG Power’s ability to cater to the growing demand for high-voltage transmission equipment in India and international markets. The first transformer rollout was witnessed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the facility, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr Mohan Yadav, said:
“Power is a critical component in achieving our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. A facility such as this one, strengthens India’s capability in high-voltage transmission equipment and supports our transition from a power-deficit to a power-sufficient nation. Additionally, industrial investment of this nature in Madhya Pradesh generates opportunity for the local youth and uplifts communities. This facility from CG will create over 2000 direct and indirect employment in Sehore. Our government will continue to ensure that every investment proposal signed in Madhya Pradesh becomes a working factory on the ground and continues to benefit the people of Madhya Pradesh.”
The plant represents a significant expansion of CG Power’s manufacturing footprint and builds on the company’s longstanding presence in electrical infrastructure equipment. According to Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman, CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd, the facility will address rising electricity demand associated with India’s economic growth while also creating opportunities in export markets.

The rapid commissioning of the plant follows the bhoomi pujan performed by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister in August 2025. CG Power said the facility was brought into operation within 13–14 months, supported by collaboration between its cross-functional teams and the state government.

With its high-voltage manufacturing capabilities, the Sehore facility is expected to serve a diverse range of critical applications, including utilities, data centres, railways, renewable energy, oil and gas, and transmission infrastructure. The plant will also provide additional capacity to support CG Power’s expanding international business and export requirements.
