JSW Greentech Ltd, the commercial electric vehicle arm of JSW Group, has entered India’s electric commercial mobility market with the launch of AMPSTAR, a new brand focused on electric buses and trucks.
Positioned as ‘AMPSTAR: powered by JSW,’ the new brand is being developed as a full-stack commercial mobility platform rather than a vehicle-only offering. The company plans to bring together electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, operating solutions, financing options and after-sales support under a single ecosystem.
AMPSTAR will offer customers multiple power configurations ranging from 150 kW to 500 kW, along with different ownership and operating models. These will include outright purchase, leasing and Battery as a Service (BaaS), giving fleet operators flexibility in how they adopt electric commercial vehicles.
The vehicles will be manufactured at JSW Greentech’s integrated EV manufacturing facility at AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. Spread across 90 acres, the facility has an annual production capacity of 15,000 electric buses and trucks. The plant will feature India’s first pre-treatment and electro-deposition (PT-ED) process for bus manufacturing, a technology widely used in advanced automotive markets. It will also house an automated truck-cabin manufacturing line and an integrated battery ecosystem.
The company said AMPSTAR vehicles have been engineered in-house specifically for Indian operating conditions. JSW Greentech has developed the base logic, software and algorithms for the electric drivetrain, enabling the company to customise vehicle configurations for different customer requirements. Key vehicle technologies include a double cooling battery system and a high-strength monocoque chassis, designed for India’s climatic and road conditions.

The company is planning a broad commercial vehicle portfolio covering multiple applications. On the bus side, AMPSTAR will offer vehicles ranging from 7 m to 18 m, targeting staff transportation, city, intercity and school mobility applications.
On the truck side, the company will initially introduce a 55 ton tractor-trailer, with plans to subsequently expand the portfolio to include tippers and fixed-body dumpers.

With its manufacturing base, in-house electric drivetrain development and integrated ownership and operating solutions, AMPSTAR marks JSW Group’s entry into the commercial vehicle segment and its move to establish a broader ecosystem around electric mobility in India.
