ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has strengthened its presence in the firm and dispatchable renewable energy segment with the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 400 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project with NTPC Ltd.
The agreement has been executed through ACME Solar’s subsidiary, ACME Marigold Urja Pvt Ltd, under NTPC’s FDRE-01 tranche at a tariff of Rs 4.37 per unit. The tariff has received approval from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
The proposed project will be connected to the Raghanesda substation through the ISTS network. ACME Solar has secured the final connectivity grant and leased over 800 acres of land for the development. The company is now preparing for project execution in accordance with the commissioning timelines stipulated in the PPA.
The project will integrate renewable energy generation with energy storage systems to ensure electricity is supplied in line with the power purchaser’s requirements. Unlike conventional renewable energy projects that depend on the availability of solar or wind resources, the FDRE configuration is designed to deliver scheduled power across different time periods, including peak-demand hours.
The project will operate with a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) requirement of 40 per cent, placing emphasis on consistent electricity generation and adherence to the agreed dispatch schedule. The integration of storage infrastructure will help manage fluctuations in renewable power generation and improve the availability of electricity when demand is higher.
FDRE solutions are gaining importance in India’s renewable energy landscape as the sector moves beyond capacity addition towards ensuring reliable and predictable power supply. By combining renewable generation with energy storage, these projects can address intermittency challenges and support grid stability while meeting the evolving requirements of power distribution and procurement agencies.
The latest agreement adds another 400 MW project to ACME Solar’s renewable energy portfolio and reinforces its participation in the emerging firm and dispatchable power market. The development also reflects the growing focus on integrated renewable energy solutions capable of aligning clean power generation with grid requirements and consumption patterns.
