AM/NS India launches colour-coated steel Optigal with longest warranty

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has launched Optigal—a cutting-edge colour-coated steel product.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has launched Optigal—a cutting-edge colour-coated steel product. Previously available only in global markets, Optigal is now being produced and distributed in India, making it the first time this world-class steel is accessible domestically.

Optigal is distinguished by its innovative Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium (ZAM) metallic coating, a technology that sets new standards for corrosion resistance. Launched by AM/NS India CEO Dilip Oommen at a recent event in Kochi, Kerala, the product also boasts the longest warranty in the Indian market, extending up to 25 years.

With the Indian demand for colour-coated steel products projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8-10 per cent, Optigal is poised to make a significant impact. Currently, AM/NS India has a colour-coated production capacity of 700,000 ton, with plans to expand to 1 million ton by 2026. This capacity boost is expected to increase the company’s market share from 20-22 per cent to 25-27 per cent.

The product’s unique ZAM alloy technology, which involves hot dip coating steel strips in a zinc, aluminium, and magnesium alloy, enhances both performance and durability. The inclusion of magnesium, in particular, ensures high formability and superior corrosion protection, making Optigal ideal for applications such as roofing, fencing, and cladding in residential and commercial projects.

Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice-President – Sales & Marketing, AM/NS India, highlighted the significance of this launch: “The introduction of Optigal is an important addition to our growing product portfolio. This launch reaffirms our commitment to delivering world-class, innovative, and sustainable steels to our customers nationwide in line with our brand promise – ‘Smarter Steels, Brighter Futures’. The efforts also reflect our corporate campaign – Banaunga Main, Banega Bharat, apart from highlighting our contribution to ‘Make in India’ initiative.”

Optigal is an eco-friendly product, free of hexavalent chromium and heavy metals, designed to reduce environmental impact. Its exceptional cut-edge protection, superior corrosion resistance, and optimized flexibility make it a globally benchmarked product, ready to meet the growing demands of India’s infrastructure and construction sectors.
