Amara Raja Infra has successfully commissioned India’s first green hydrogen fueling station in Leh, Ladakh, developed for NTPC Ltd. The facility, inaugurated by Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, marks a significant milestone in the nation’s green energy journey.
Situated at an altitude of 3,400 m, this state-of-the-art station can produce 80 kg of green hydrogen daily. The project, completed over two years, faced extreme weather conditions with temperatures ranging from -25°C to 30°C, highlighting the engineering expertise involved.
Designed to promote zero-emission transportation in the Leh region, the facility will soon support the operation of five hydrogen fuel cell buses deployed by NTPC. This initiative is part of a broader effort to position India at the forefront of green mobility and sustainable energy solutions.
Amara Raja Infra’s involvement underscores its growing role in pioneering green hydrogen infrastructure, showcasing its engineering and project execution capabilities. The Leh project is expected to serve as a blueprint for similar hydrogen fueling stations across the country, advancing India’s National Hydrogen Energy Mission.
This initiative also paves the way for large-scale adoption of hydrogen-based mobility and storage solutions, solidifying India’s commitment to achieving a sustainable and eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.
