Ambuja Cements Ltd has announced its first venture in Bihar. The company will establish the Warisaliganj Cement Grinding Unit with an overall capacity of 6 MTPA, marking the largest investment by a cement industry player in the state.
The project, located in Mosama village, Tehsil Warisaliganj, District Nawada, Bihar, will be developed in three phases. The initial phase, with a capacity of 2.4 MTPA and an investment of Rs 1,100 crore, is slated for completion by December 2025. The site, strategically positioned 1 km from Warisaliganj railway station and 500 m from SH-83, is well-connected by road and rail. Adequate land has been provisioned for future expansions, which will be carried out at a lower capital expenditure.
The Warisaliganj Cement Grinding Unit is set to meet the growing infrastructure needs of Bihar and aligns with the priorities outlined in the recent Union Budget. The project is expected to contribute approximately Rs 250 crore annually to the state’s fiscal revenue and create 250 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony hosted by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised the investment. “This investment by the Adani Group is a testament to Bihar’s growth potential and our commitment to fostering sustainable development for the people of Bihar,” he remarked.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Hon’ble Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Hon’ble Industry Minister Nitish Mishra. Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil & Gas) and Director, Adani Enterprises Ltd, was also present. He highlighted the significance of the investment, stating, “This investment aligns with the State Government’s development programs and our growth plans. The cement industry is witnessing healthy volumes due to the government’s infrastructure thrust, and Ambuja Cements is well-positioned to support sustainable infrastructure development in the country. We look forward to collaborating with the state government, authorities, and local communities on this and future projects. State Government’s support in fast tracking and provisioning of all permits has made this landmark investment possible in short time.”
In addition to the Warisaliganj project, BIADA has allotted 26.60 acre of land in Mahbal, Motipur, Muzaffarpur for another cement unit by Ambuja Cements Ltd. Environmental clearance for this project is underway, with work expected to commence shortly. The Warisaliganj unit is anticipated to be operational by December 2025, further bolstering the state’s infrastructure development.
