Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has entered into a concession agreement with the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) for the development of Berth No 13 at Deendayal Port, located in Kandla, Gujarat. The project will be managed by APSEZ’s newly established subsidiary, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal Ltd (DPACCCTL), which will oversee the operations at the berth.
The agreement follows a letter of intent (LOI) received by APSEZ in July 2024, granting the company the rights to develop, operate, and maintain the berth for a period of 30 years. The berth, which will be constructed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, is intended to handle a variety of clean cargo, including containerized goods.
Berth No 13 is projected to have an annual capacity of 5.7 million metric ton (MMT) and is scheduled for commissioning in the fiscal year 2027. Stretching 300 m in length, the facility is expected to bolster APSEZ’s cargo handling capabilities on India’s western coast.
Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO, APSEZ, expressed optimism about the project, stating, “This new berth will enable us to expand our offerings at Deendayal Port. Along with the dry bulk cargo we currently manage, we will now cater to clean cargo, further strengthening our position in Gujarat and the northern parts of the country.”
The new berth is set to enhance Deendayal Port’s infrastructure, supporting the region’s growing trade demands and boosting the port’s operational efficiency.
