Bharat Forge, Liebherr-Aerospace launch advanced aerospace facility in Pune

Bharat Forge Ltd has inaugurated a state-of-the-art landing gear components machining facility at Mundhwa, Pune, marking a significant advancement in India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities. The facility has been developed in collaboration with Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS and is among the first in the country to offer OEM-approved machining capabilities for landing gear components at scale.

The newly commissioned facility integrates advanced machining centres designed for high-precision manufacturing of critical landing gear components. This development underscores Bharat Forge’s strategic push into high-value aerospace manufacturing while reinforcing India’s position within global aerospace supply chains.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of senior leadership from both organisations, including Martin Wandel, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, Philipp Walter, Managing Director at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Bernd Schacherl, Director Procurement at Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, Sanjay Prasad, Managing Director at Liebherr India Pvt Ltd, and Sunil Kalra, Managing Director at Liebherr India Pvt Ltd. Representing Bharat Forge were Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director, and Guru Biswal, CEO of the Aerospace Division.

Speaking at the inauguration, Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman & Joint Managing Director, Bharat Forge stated,

Bharat Forge has, over the years, built a comprehensive aerospace manufacturing portfolio encompassing aero-engine components, airframe structures and landing gear sub-systems for both civil and defence aviation. Its product range includes turbine and compressor components, forged rings, shafts and discs, along with structural and landing gear elements. The company is also in the process of establishing an advanced aerospace ring-mill facility in India aimed at producing high-value forged rings for aero-engine programmes.
