Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company, is expanding its operations in Andhra Pradesh with a major investment of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 crore. The company is planning to establish an integrated refinery-cum-petrochemicals complex at Ramayapatnam port in SPSR Nellore district. This development aligns with the state’s larger vision for industrial growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
The announcement was made during the Swarnandhra 2047 Vision Action Plan workshop, where Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy emphasized the Chief Minister’s efforts to prepare the state for comprehensive development across sectors over the next 25 years. The MP highlighted that many industrialists are confident in the state’s leadership and are eager to establish industries in Andhra Pradesh, further contributing to economic growth and employment.
The state Government had previously identified three potential locations for BPCL’s refinery, including Machilipatnam in Krishna district, Ramayapatnam in Nellore district, and Mulapeta in Srikakulam district. With BPCL moving forward with the Ramayapatnam site, the district administration is being urged to prepare a strategic action plan to attract more industries and generate ample employment opportunities for local youth.
