The Central Government has accorded in-principle approval for the development of a four-lane elevated corridor worth approximately Rs 12,000 crore along National Highway-765, connecting Dornala in Andhra Pradesh with Brahmanapalli in Telangana. The proposed 86.74-km corridor is expected to improve interstate connectivity while providing faster and safer access to the Srisailam temple, a major pilgrimage destination in South India.
The project will be executed in two sections, comprising the 41.39-km Peddaraveedu-Srisailam stretch in Andhra Pradesh and the 45.35-km Brahmanapalli-Srisailam stretch in Telangana. The elevated alignment has been planned to minimise environmental impact across the ecologically sensitive Nallamala forest by reducing land disturbance and limiting human activity within protected areas.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion on the existing route, enhance road safety, and facilitate smoother movement of pilgrims, local commuters, and freight traffic. The improved connectivity is also anticipated to boost tourism and contribute to the economic development of the surrounding region.
The proposal is being positioned as a key infrastructure initiative that integrates sustainable development with environmental protection. Detailed alignment surveys and project planning are currently in progress to ensure efficient implementation while preserving the ecological balance of the forest landscape.
