Ambuja Cements has announced a strategic partnership with Finland-based Coolbrook to implement innovative zero-carbon heating technology in its manufacturing operations. This collaboration aims to significantly reduce fossil fuel dependence and advance Ambuja’s sustainability goals.
Ajay Kapur, CEO, Cement Business, Adani Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our strategic partnership with Coolbrook is exciting as it is a testament to our commitment to Net Zero targets. This move further strengthens our industry leadership in sustainability. We continuously seek out innovations which drive efficiency and decarbonisation across our cement manufacturing value chain. Leveraging our Adani Group’s green power generation capabilities, we will be able to reduce fossil fuel dependence, costs, and emissions, ultimately delivering the best value for our stakeholders.”
The first phase of this collaboration will see the integration of Coolbrook’s proprietary RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) technology into Ambuja’s facilities. This groundbreaking technology harnesses renewable electricity to power high-temperature industrial processes, thus reducing reliance on fossil fuels while enhancing energy efficiency. The RDH technology is capable of generating temperatures exceeding 1,000°C and can reach up to 1,700°C, making it highly suitable for cement manufacturing processes.
Joonas Rauramo, CEO, Coolbrook, stated, “This partnership is a major step forward for Coolbrook as we aim to revolutionize heavy industries with our innovative electrification technology. Ambuja Cements’ strong commitment to sustainability and leadership position in renewable energy makes them an ideal partner for us to expand our offerings and drive the global energy transition. By integrating our RDH™ technology into their operations, we can showcase how renewable electricity can effectively replace fossil fuels in high-temperature process heating, setting a new standard for the industry.”
This partnership not only marks a significant milestone for Coolbrook as it expands its reach within the cement sector but also positions Ambuja Cements as a leader in sustainable manufacturing practices. With this initiative, both companies are poised to contribute meaningfully to the global effort of decarbonizing heavy industries and achieving net-zero emissions.
