Cummins India Ltd has appointed Shveta Arya as an Additional Director and the Managing Director (Designate). Arya will officially assume the role of Managing Director on September 1, 2024, pending approval from shareholders via a postal ballot.
Shveta Arya, who currently leads the Power System Business for Cummins India Ltd, will continue to oversee this portfolio even after her new appointment. Under her leadership, the company has experienced significant growth and strengthened its market presence in power generation and industrial businesses both in India and globally. Notably, Arya led the launch of the CPCB IV+ range of products in July 2023, which meets some of the world’s most stringent emission standards for backup power generation. Her previous role as leader of Cummins’ Distribution business in India saw her crafting a five-year growth vision that resulted in substantial revenue expansion.
Ashwath Ram, the outgoing Managing Director of Cummins India Ltd, will continue in his role until August 31, 2024. Under his leadership, the company achieved notable growth and successfully navigated the challenges posed by COVID-19. Ram expressed his confidence in Arya’s new role, stating, “I am delighted to welcome Shveta as the next Managing Director of Cummins India Ltd. As the Business Leader for Distribution and Power Systems, she has played an integral role in the company’s growth journey. Shveta Arya holds a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology engineering from Delhi University. With over 20 years of experience in industry and management consulting across sectors such as Automotive, Travel, Financial Services, and Telecom, Arya brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Prior to joining Cummins in 2016 as the Head of Strategy, she was associated with Thomas Cook, Kearney, and Infosys.
