Cummins India has inaugurated its first IT Global Competency Centre (GCC) at its Pune office campus in Balewadi. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance the company’s global operations by leveraging specialised talent and advanced technical capabilities.
The newly established GCC will be home to a diverse team of software engineers, product owners, architects, technology leads, and process experts. These professionals will focus on driving innovation across key sectors, including the automobile industry, engineering research and development (ER&D), manufacturing, and energy. The centre is poised to harness cutting-edge digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
A notable feature of the GCC is its commitment to gender diversity, with women making up 55 per cent of its workforce. This initiative underscores Cummins India’s dedication to strengthening diversity across all technical roles.
Annapurna Vishwanathan, Chief Information Officer, Cummins India, emphasized that the new facility is integral to the company’s growth strategy and India’s progress. She noted that utilizing India’s talent pool for digital enablement and process transformation would enhance the company’s competitive advantage.
The GCC is part of Cummins’ extensive IT transformation plan, designed to boost operational efficiency and speed up product and service delivery. It will also offer internships for young talent and jobs for veterans, individuals with special needs, women returning from maternity leave, and those re-entering the workforce. The centre plans to work closely with educational institutions to support its objectives.
Earl Newsome, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Cummins Inc, highlighted the strategic role of the GCC, seeing it as a critical step in enhancing IT capabilities to provide a superior business experience for stakeholders globally.
With this launch, Cummins India is set to drive forward its innovation agenda, strengthening its position as a leader in technology and digital transformation.
