Hitachi India Pvt Ltd has announced the appointment of N Venu as its new Managing Director, marking a significant move in the company’s strategic roadmap for accelerating growth in the Indian market. He will continue in his existing roles as Managing Director & CEO of Hitachi Energy India Ltd and Region Head – South Asia, Hitachi Energy.
This development follows the elevation of Dr Bharat Kaushal to the position of Executive Chairman, Hitachi India. Dr Kaushal, the first Indian to serve as Managing Director of the company, will now take on a broader strategic role to steer Hitachi’s long-term mission in the country.
As Managing Director of Hitachi India, Venu will focus on consolidating the operations of 28 Hitachi Group companies in the country, driving integration between IT and OT (Operational Technology), and expanding the Lumada digital solutions business under Hitachi Group’s new global management plan – Inspire 2027. His leadership will be key in reinforcing the company’s transformation into a digital-centric enterprise and deepening its commitment to creating customer value across sectors.
Hitachi’s operations in India span diverse sectors including Rail, Digital Infrastructure, Connected Industries, Energy, Financial Inclusion, e-Education, and Healthcare. The organization aims to evolve India into a global innovation and solutions hub, supporting both domestic goals and global mandates through a vision of ‘India for India and India for the World.’ Plans are underway to implement a ‘Delivery-layer’ framework through strategic partnerships, aimed at building a high-margin, high-revenue business model within the country.

With close to four decades of industry experience, Venu has been a driving force behind Hitachi Energy India’s progress since its formation. He has also served as Chairman of the Karnataka chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from NIT Warangal. His professional credentials also include executive programs from IIM Ahmedabad, ISB Hyderabad, and IMD Switzerland.
