Jindal Stainless to Invest Rs 40,000 crore in Maharashtra

Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) is set to make a significant investment of Rs 40,000 crore in Maharashtra to establish a state-of-the-art stainless steel manufacturing facility. The initiative aims to bolster India’s self-sufficiency in stainless steel production, reducing reliance on imports and catering to both traditional and emerging industrial sectors.

The Maharashtra Government has given the green light to the proposal, with key officials backing the project’s development. Spanning the next decade, the facility will be developed in multiple phases, eventually achieving a melting capacity of four million ton per annum (MTPA). The first phase is expected to be operational within four years, contributing to the creation of approximately 15,000 jobs.

Designed to support a wide range of industries, the plant will produce diverse stainless steel flat products with varying specifications. Additionally, it will focus on manufacturing specialized grades required for critical applications in sectors such as hydrogen energy, nuclear power, defense, transportation, infrastructure, and process industries.

To facilitate the investment, the State Government has committed to ensuring a streamlined approval process, offering necessary clearances, registrations, and financial incentives. The initiative is poised to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities while aligning with national efforts to promote advanced technology, sustainability, and high-quality production standards.
