K2 Infragen secures Rs 158.58 crore railway electrification contract

K2 Infragen Ltd has secured a railway infrastructure contract valued at Rs 158.58 crore, including GST, from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd for the enhancement of electrification systems across strategic sections of the North Western Railway network.

The project involves the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of upgraded electric traction infrastructure. Under the contract, the existing 1×25 kV traction system will be converted to a more advanced 2×25 kV configuration to improve operational efficiency and support higher freight movement.

The work will be carried out on the Luni–Samdari–Bhildi corridor within the Jodhpur Division and the Jaipur–Sawai Madhopur route in the Jaipur Division. The combined scope covers 403 route kilometres and nearly 498 track kilometres.

The infrastructure upgrade is expected to strengthen traction capacity and facilitate the rail network’s targeted freight-loading objectives, enabling smoother and more efficient operations across the identified sections.

According to the project terms, execution is scheduled to be completed within a period of 24 months.

With the latest contract addition, K2 Infragen has further expanded its order pipeline, reinforcing its presence in the railway electrification and infrastructure development segment. The company indicated that its pending government-backed order book has reached approximately Rs 500 crore over the past six months, reflecting growing participation in large-scale public infrastructure projects.
