LMW unveils Rs 1,050 crore expansion to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s advanced manufacturing landscape

Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd (LMW) has unveiled a major Rs 1,050 crore investment aimed at strengthening its general manufacturing, R&D, and electronics production capabilities in Tamil Nadu. The move positions Coimbatore for an accelerated rise as a high-technology industrial hub and aligns with the state’s drive to attract large-scale, value-driven industrial investments.

The expansion plan follows the signing of an MoU with the Tamil Nadu Government and is expected to significantly scale India’s domestic manufacturing depth. Enhanced infrastructure and upgraded production systems will equip the company to meet rising demand across critical sectors, supporting larger national goals related to technological self-reliance and competitive industrial output.

A central element of the investment focuses on expanding electronics and advanced engineering solutions. By incorporating modern manufacturing architecture and bolstering research-led innovation, the initiative aims to catalyse the development of next-generation industrial technologies, further strengthening Coimbatore’s standing in high-tech manufacturing.

The project is also anticipated to drive substantial employment opportunities, both direct and indirect, across the state. This boost reinforces Tamil Nadu’s expanding role in India’s Make-in-India momentum and deepens its presence in the advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

With a robust policy environment, an experienced talent pool, and strong infrastructure, Tamil Nadu continues to stand out as a preferred destination for high-value industrial commitments. LMW’s investment serves as another significant milestone in the state’s rapidly advancing industrial landscape and underscores its leadership in innovation-driven growth.
