Mahindra announces Rs 15,000 crore manufacturing expansion across Maharashtra

Mahindra Group has announced plans to establish its largest integrated manufacturing facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a major step in the Group’s long-term growth and manufacturing expansion strategy. The announcement was made at Advantage Vidarbha, a three-day flagship event aimed at positioning Vidarbha as a key industrial growth hub on India’s manufacturing map.

The proposed state-of-the-art manufacturing complex will be developed across 1,500 acre in Vidarbha, supported by a 150 acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. Once fully operational, the facility will have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing footprint in the country.

Vidarbha’s strategic advantages—such as strong road connectivity through the Samruddhi Expressway, robust rail infrastructure, access to key domestic and export markets, and a rapidly evolving industrial ecosystem—were cited as key enablers for the investment. The supplier park at Sambhajinagar is expected to strengthen the manufacturing value chain through closer collaboration with partners, improved logistics efficiency and enhanced localisation. It will supply components to the upcoming Nagpur plant as well as Mahindra’s existing manufacturing facilities at Chakan and Nashik.

The automotive manufacturing unit will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of producing vehicles across multiple powertrains—internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EVs), and future technologies—for both domestic and global markets. Equipped with advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems, the plant will reflect Mahindra’s emphasis on innovation, quality and sustainability. The tractor manufacturing unit will further reinforce Mahindra’s leadership in the farm equipment segment, catering to growing domestic demand and key export markets.

In addition to the Nagpur project, Mahindra will also acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik region to expand current product and engine capacities and support the growth of its Advanced Technology business.

Through these initiatives, Mahindra plans a comprehensive investment of Rs 15,000 crore over a 10-year period in Maharashtra, acquiring over 2,000 acre across three locations to significantly strengthen its manufacturing footprint in the state.

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra, said:
“Mahindra’s decision to establish its largest integrated auto and tractor manufacturing facility in Maharashtra is a strong endorsement of the state’s robust industrial ecosystem and progressive policy framework. This landmark investment will generate significant employment, accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and surrounding areas, and further reinforce Maharashtra’s position as a leading manufacturing hub in India.”

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said:
“This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility and advanced technology within one integrated footprint. It strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products while staying true to our commitment to ‘Make in India for the World.’ We are proud to deepen our partnership with the state of Maharashtra through this transformative investment.”

With this new integrated manufacturing complex, Mahindra continues to advance its vision of shaping the future of mobility and farm mechanisation, driven by innovation, sustainability and global competitiveness, while contributing significantly to India’s industrial growth.
