Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has appointed Manish Raj Gupta as the Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials). An accomplished professional with over three decades of expertise in the steel industry, Gupta brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, Gupta joined SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Durgapur Steel Plant. Since then, he has held various key positions across SAIL’s plants and units, showcasing his exceptional technical acumen, leadership skills, and dedication to operational excellence.
During his extensive career, Gupta has made remarkable contributions to SAIL’s growth and modernization. At Durgapur Steel Plant, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and safety of the Steel Melting Shop. In 2019, as Chief General Manager at Bokaro Steel Plant, he spearheaded several technological upgrades and modernization projects.
Later, as Executive Director (Works) at IISCO Steel Plant, Gupta focused on driving sustainability initiatives, optimizing costs, and integrating digital technologies into operations. His tenure at SAIL’s Corporate Office as Executive Director In-charge (Operations) was marked by significant improvements in operational efficiency and strategic coordination across the company.
With this new role, Gupta is expected to further strengthen SAIL’s technical and operational capabilities, ensuring the successful execution of key projects and the efficient management of raw materials. His leadership is anticipated to drive innovation, sustainability, and excellence within the organization.
