Nemetschek Group has announced the appointment of Alok Sharma as Managing Director and Vice President, India, reinforcing its strategic focus on one of the world’s fastest-growing construction markets.
The leadership move comes as India consolidates its position as the third-largest construction market globally, supported by sustained public and private investments in infrastructure, urban expansion, transport networks and institutional modernisation. With digitalisation becoming fundamental to project delivery, regulatory compliance and asset lifecycle management, the company views India as a critical driver of its long-term global growth.
In his new role, Alok will lead Nemetschek’s India growth strategy, prioritising stronger engagement with enterprise clients, expanding government partnerships and accelerating the shift toward subscription-based and SaaS-driven digital construction solutions. His responsibilities will also include advancing Building Information Modelling (BIM) adoption across infrastructure and real estate projects, while reinforcing the company’s partner ecosystem in the country.
Alok brings more than three decades of experience in building and expanding software businesses across India and the SAARC region, particularly within the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) domain. His track record includes leading large-scale enterprise engagements, strengthening public sector collaborations and steering the transition from traditional licensing models to cloud-enabled subscription platforms.
Commenting on the development, Pete Nicholson, Senior Vice President, Nemetschek Group, said, “India represents one of the most dynamic construction markets globally. As infrastructure investments scale and digital mandates gather pace, strengthening local leadership is central to our long-term growth strategy. Alok’s deep domain expertise and understanding of the Indian market will help us expand our presence and deliver greater value to customers.”
Alok Sharma said, “India’s built environment ecosystem is entering a decisive phase of digital transformation that aligns directly with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. With increased focus on efficiency, transparency and lifecycle optimisation, there is significant opportunity to scale BIM and advanced digital workflows across public and private sector projects. We see the need of technology adoption as a key lever in realising the future of infrastructure in India”
Through this appointment, Nemetschek Group aims to further strengthen its operational footprint in India and align its multi-brand technology portfolio with the country’s expanding infrastructure pipeline and growing emphasis on digital construction, underscoring its continued commitment to the market.
