PM Modi inaugurates projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore during an event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The projects span various sectors, including infrastructure, technology, urbanization, and renewable energy, aiming to transform the state into a major economic and industrial hub.

Key Announcements
Green Hydrogen Hub: The Prime Minister announced the establishment of a green hydrogen production hub in Visakhapatnam, positioning the city among the global leaders in this emerging technology. This initiative is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, targeting the production of 5 million metric ton of green hydrogen by 2030.

Bulk Drug Park: A bulk drug park in Nakkapalli, one of three such facilities in India, will provide advanced infrastructure for pharmaceutical manufacturing and research. The project is expected to boost investor confidence and support local pharma companies.

South Coast Railway Zone: PM Modi laid the foundation for the South Coast Railway Zone headquarters in Visakhapatnam, fulfilling a long-pending demand. The new railway zone is expected to enhance connectivity, promote trade, and provide a boost to the region’s economy.

Krishnapatnam Industrial Area: The foundation stone was laid for the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area, a smart city initiative under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. The project is set to attract large-scale investments and create millions of jobs, bolstering Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth.

Infrastructure and Urbanization
The Prime Minister highlighted the completion of railway electrification across Andhra Pradesh and announced the modernization of over 70 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Connectivity projects worth thousands of crores were inaugurated to enhance regional transportation and logistics. Urbanization received a boost with plans to make Andhra Pradesh a model for modern urban development. PM Modi emphasized that the state’s progress would contribute significantly to India’s goal of becoming a developed nation.

Recognizing the strategic importance of Andhra Pradesh’s coastline, the Prime Minister announced initiatives to promote the blue economy. The modernization of the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour and support for the fisheries sector were highlighted as key measures to boost maritime trade and livelihoods. The projects align with Andhra Pradesh’s vision to become a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047 under the ‘Swarna Andhra@2047’ initiative. PM Modi reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to working with the state to achieve its developmental goals.
