Shree Cement has crossed a major sustainability threshold, with more than 60 per cent of its total electricity needs now being met through green energy sources. This achievement marks a decisive step forward in the company’s long-standing commitment to climate-conscious manufacturing and positions it as a leader in low-carbon cement production.
The company’s renewable energy capacity has now reached 582 MW, bolstered by the recent commissioning of a 60.3 MW solar power plant in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This latest addition adds significant weight to Shree Cement’s broader strategy of embedding sustainability at the core of its business operations.
With aggressive investments in renewable infrastructure—spanning solar, wind, and waste heat recovery—Shree Cement continues to scale up its green footprint across all its manufacturing locations. The company’s approach is rooted in integrating clean energy across its entire value chain, from sourcing and production to logistics and packaging.
Commenting on the achievement, M M Rathi, Joint President – Power Management, Shree Cement, said, “We are building a future-ready enterprise rooted in sustainability, innovation and performance. Our transition to green power is not just a business imperative it is a long-term commitment to a cleaner, more responsible future. Through this journey, we aim to set new benchmarks for the entire cement industry.”
To enhance operational resilience and ensure long-term energy security, Shree Cement has deployed advanced energy management systems, using data to drive smarter, more efficient energy consumption while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The company’s efforts in sustainability have not gone unnoticed. It recently received a top-tier ESG 1 rating from CareEdge and was recognized as an ‘Industry Mover’ in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2025—both strong affirmations of its leadership in responsible manufacturing.
