SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Gujarat-based BigBloc Construction Ltd and Thailand’s SCG International Corporation Co, Ltd, has bagged a work order from Tata Projects Ltd. The order involves the supply and installation of AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) panels for India’s first semiconductor factory, set up by Micron India in Sanand, Gujarat.
Covering approximately 2 lakh sq ft, the order includes the installation of 100 mm AAC panels for the facility. Valued at Rs 4.5 crore, the project is expected to be completed within three months. The work order was finalized after rigorous discussions, due diligence, and factory visits, including evaluations of mock-ups.
This landmark project marks the first major achievement for SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies following the commencement of India’s inaugural AAC wall plant at Kheda, Gujarat. The state-of-the-art facility, built with an investment of Rs 65 crore, has a production capacity of 2.5 lakh cubic metres annually. The plant specializes in large-format AAC wall products marketed under the brand name ‘ZMARTBUILD WALL by NXTBLOC’, offering panels ranging from 8 to 20 ft in length.
BigBloc Construction Ltd holds a 52 per cent stake in the joint venture, with SCG International owning the remaining 48 per cent. Notably, this venture represents SCG Group’s maiden investment in India. The plant was inaugurated on June 10, 2024, by H E Ms Pattarat Hongtong, Thailand’s Ambassador to India, alongside key officials from SCG International and BigBloc Construction.
Naresh Saboo, Managing Director, BigBloc Construction Ltd, expressed pride in this achievement, stating: “We are proud to mark the first major milestone in our transformative journey to revolutionize the construction industry. We look forward to partnering with other marquee projects in near future.”
With sustainability at its core, AAC blocks and walls offer numerous advantages over traditional building materials. These lightweight, soundproof, and fire-resistant panels are also eco-friendly and economical. The joint venture envisions expanding production capacity to 5 lakh cubic metres annually in a second phase, aligning with its mission to provide innovative building material solutions and strengthen India’s supply chain.
