Switch Mobility has unveiled two advanced electric buses, focusing on sustainable urban transportation for India and Europe. The EiV12, designed and developed for the Indian market, represents a significant milestone as the country’s first low-floor city bus equipped with chassis-mounted batteries. The bus was launched at an event attended by key dignitaries, signaling the brand’s commitment to revolutionizing urban mobility.
The EiV12 offers scalable battery capacity ranging from 189 kWh to 423 kWh, delivering a range of up to 314 km on a single charge. Its design incorporates a kneeling mechanism, an automated wheelchair ramp, and reserved seating, ensuring accessibility for differently-abled individuals and the elderly. Additionally, the bus provides seating for up to 39 passengers, includes five reserved seats for women, and features comprehensive safety systems with five CCTV cameras. The panoramic glass design enhances the passenger experience by creating a spacious and naturally lit cabin.
Switch Mobility’s European launch focuses on the E1, engineered for urban transit in cities like Barcelona and Madrid. This lightweight model incorporates in-wheel motors and a 400 kWh NMC battery pack, making it one of the lightest electric buses in its segment. The E1 is optimized for high passenger capacity, accommodating 93 individuals, including standees, while ensuring seamless movement with its flat gangway layout and three-door design.
With a robust response in the form of 1,800 orders for the EiV12 in India, Switch Mobility is poised to accelerate the adoption of electric buses across markets, demonstrating its expertise in designing efficient, accessible, and eco-friendly transport solutions.
