Titagarh Rail Systems inks Rs 857 crore deal for Surat Metro Rail Project

In a significant development, Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), has recently inked a lucrative contract worth Rs 857 crore with the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation. This contract pertains to the manufacturing of 72 standard gauge cars, marking a pivotal milestone in the first phase of the Surat Metro Rail Project.

The total order value for this substantial project stands at approximately Rs 857 crores, highlighting the company’s prowess in the rail manufacturing sector. The project’s execution is slated to commence 76 weeks after the contract signing, with a projected completion time frame of 132 weeks thereafter.

The Surat Metro Rail Project itself is a monumental undertaking, encompassing two corridors that collectively span an impressive 40.45 km, boasting a total of 38 stations. The estimated cost of this ambitious project stands at an impressive Rs 12,020 crore, reflecting the significant investment and commitment to enhancing the public transportation infrastructure in the region.

TRSL is not only a key player in the manufacturing of railway wagons but also a notable contributor to passenger coach production. In light of this latest contract and the company’s growth trajectory, it has decided to expand its capacities with a capital expenditure of approximately Rs 650 crore over the next few years. Much of this investment has already been made and is expected to yield substantial returns, further solidifying TRSL’s position in the rail industry.
