AM/NS India Launches Premium Colour-Coated Steel Products

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has announced the launch of Optigal® Prime and Optigal® Pinnacle, two high-performance additions to its premium colour-coated steel portfolio, Optigal®. These cutting-edge offerings mark a significant advancement in the domestic steel industry, introducing European-standard corrosion-resistant steel tailored for large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.

With the introduction of Optigal® Prime and Optigal® Pinnacle, AM/NS India pioneers a new segment of high-quality C4 specialty steel, previously unavailable in the country. The products are designed for use in state-of-the-art airports, railway stations, highways, and iconic buildings, meeting the evolving needs of India’s rapidly modernising infrastructure landscape. AM/NS India remains the only domestic producer of this advanced steel category.

This strategic launch aligns with the national vision of accelerated development and contributes to the broader goals of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The company has set its sights on achieving a dominant position in the high-performance colour-coated steel segment, aiming for a 25 per cent share of the overall 3.4 million ton market within the next two to three years. The segment is currently growing at a steady rate of 10 per cent annually.

Optigal® Prime is developed for urban and moderately corrosive environments and comes with a 15-year warranty. It is available in premium finishes including Silicon Modified Polyester (SMP), Super Durable Polyester (SDP), and PVDF. The product is an ideal solution for roofing, cladding, and a wide range of construction applications.

Optigal® Pinnacle, the top-tier variant, is engineered for industrial and coastal regions. Offering a 25-year warranty, it features advanced PU/PA coatings that deliver exceptional resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and temperature fluctuations—making it suitable for high-demand environments like marine-facing structures, warehouses, and airports.

“Launch of Optigal® Prime and Optigal® Pinnacle reflects our commitment to quality, durability, and sustainable innovation. As India’s infrastructure and construction needs evolve on the path to ‘Viksit Bharat’, we are proud to offer world-class, high-performance steel solutions that address diverse climatic and industrial demands. This marks a significant step forward as we continue to strengthen our value-added product portfolio in line with our brand promise – Smarter Steels, Brighter Futures,” said Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice-President – Sales and Marketing, AM/NS India.

The new offerings will be available in six specialised variants – High Gloss, Anti-Dust, Anti-Graffiti, Anti-Static, Anti-Microbial, and Cool Roof – catering to varied performance requirements across India’s infrastructure and construction spectrum. Developed using advanced Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium technology, these variants provide up to three times more corrosion and weathering resistance compared to conventional coatings.

In line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the products have been developed with a strong focus on sustainability. They feature low VOC emissions, contain no heavy metals or hexavalent chromium, and are fully recyclable, making them an environmentally responsible choice for future-ready construction.

Manufactured at AM/NS India’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune, Maharashtra, the Optigal® range currently contributes to the company’s annual colour-coated steel capacity of approximately 7 lakh ton. Plans are underway to increase this capacity to one million ton, reinforcing AM/NS India’s leadership in the premium coated steel segment.
