Vijayapura Airport targets January 2027 flight operations

The Vijayapura Airport project in Karnataka is approaching completion, with authorities targeting the start of commercial flight operations by January 2027, subject to regulatory clearances.

Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) has accelerated work following the recent lifting of a Supreme Court stay that had contributed to delays in the project. Environmental approvals had also affected the construction timeline.

Preparations for night-landing facilities are progressing, with the tender process expected to conclude shortly. The airport is expected to improve air connectivity for Vijayapura and surrounding regions while supporting industrial, commercial and economic activity in the area.

The commencement of services will depend on final technical approvals and clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
