The Union Rail Budget for 2025-26 has allocated substantial funds to several states to enhance railway infrastructure, modernisation, and passenger amenities. Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, and Odisha are among the key beneficiaries, with increased investments aimed at station redevelopment, track electrification, and safety enhancements.
Rajasthan has been allotted Rs 9,960 crore, marking a significant rise from previous years. The state has seen rapid railway expansion, with over 3,784 km of new tracks laid and 5,143 km of tracks electrified. Additionally, 85 stations are undergoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat scheme, while flyovers and underpasses continue to be constructed to ease congestion.
Tamil Nadu’s allocation stands at Rs 6,626 crore, surpassing last year’s funding. The state is currently implementing 22 projects covering 2,587 km, with 77 stations being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 2,948 crore. The Kavach safety system is also being installed across 601 sections to enhance rail security. Meanwhile, Kerala has received Rs 3,042 crore, a significant jump from previous allocations. The state is focusing on eight railway projects covering 419 km and upgrading 35 stations under the redevelopment initiative.
Punjab and Haryana have also witnessed notable increases in funding, receiving Rs 5,421 crore and Rs 3,416 crore, respectively. The investments are aimed at infrastructure development, with major stations such as Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ambala undergoing transformation. A total of 64 stations across both states are being modernised, and safety measures, including track upgrades and the installation of the Kavach system, remain a priority.
Odisha has been allocated Rs 10,599 crore, further reinforcing the government’s push towards rail network expansion and modernisation. The overall budget reflects a strong commitment to bolstering railway connectivity, efficiency, and safety across multiple states, with several projects set for completion in the coming years.
