JNPA and NMDC Group PJSC join forces for Vadhvan Port development

In a strategic move to bolster India’s port infrastructure, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has formalized an agreement with NMDC Group PJSC for the construction of Vadhvan Port Project Ltd. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marked a crucial milestone in the development of one of India’s most ambitious port projects.

The agreement outlines NMDC Group PJSC’s investment commitment of approximately Rs 21,000 crore towards land offshore development, which includes dredging, reclamation, and shore protection efforts. This initiative aligns with JNPA’s vision to transform Vadhvan Port into a world-class maritime hub, positioning it among the top 10 ports globally. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, NMDC Group PJSC’s collaboration with JNPA is expected to bring global expertise and advanced infrastructure development techniques to the project, ensuring strategic and sustainable growth.

The MoU was exchanged between JNPA Chairman and CMD of VPPL, Unmesh Sharad Wagh, and NMDC Group PJSC’s CEO, Yasser Zaghloul. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing India’s maritime sector and meeting the growing demands of international trade.

The signing follows a series of previous agreements for Vadhvan Port Project Ltd, which were formalized in the presence of key government officials, including the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, during their visit to JN Port. These agreements collectively reinforce the government’s vision for strengthening India’s port capabilities and advancing its role in global trade logistics.
