Star Cement to invest Rs 3,200 crore in Assam for clinker and grinding Plant

Guwahati is set to witness a substantial boost in its industrial landscape as Star Cement unveils plans for a Rs 3,200-crore cement clinker and grinding unit in Assam. Strengthening this commitment, the company has entered into an agreement with the State Government, reinforcing Assam’s position as a growing hub for industrial investment.

This development was among the key highlights of the recently concluded Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025. The summit served as a platform for major business collaborations, drawing significant investment proposals across multiple sectors.

Apart from Star Cement’s initiative, Assam’s industrial expansion received another push through a Rs 1,500 crore hydrogen and steam generation project by Matheson Hydrogen. In a move to enhance healthcare infrastructure, an MoU worth Rs 500 crore was signed with Global Health. Additionally, the State Government entered into two strategic, non-financial agreements with ITE Education Service, aiming to boost educational development.

The summit marked an impressive response from investors, with the first day alone recording 164 MoUs spanning 15 diverse sectors. Assam’s proactive approach to attracting investment is expected to accelerate economic growth, generating employment opportunities and enhancing industrial output in the region.
