Borosil Renewables Boosts Solar Glass Output with Rs 950-Crore Expansion

Borosil Renewables is ramping up its solar glass production capabilities, setting the stage for a major capacity leap at its Gujarat-based facility. The company has secured board approval for a Rs 950-crore investment aimed at increasing output by 600 ton per day (TPD), strengthening its position in the clean energy value chain.

This new phase of expansion involves the addition of two state-of-the-art furnaces, each with a 300 TPD capacity, at the firm’s Bharuch plant. With this upgrade, the facility’s total manufacturing capability will climb to 1,600 TPD, translating to an annual capacity of approximately 10.4 GW, up from the existing 6.5 GW.

The move marks a revision from Borosil’s earlier blueprint, which involved a Rs 675-crore investment for a 500 TPD increase. The expansion scope was broadened in response to more optimistic market forecasts and an anticipated surge in demand for domestically manufactured solar components.

To fuel this growth, Borosil Renewables will draw from a blend of equity, debt, and internal resources. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to drive higher volumes in production and sales, enabling the company to meet the accelerating needs of India’s solar sector more efficiently.

As the country intensifies its renewable energy push, manufacturers like Borosil are scaling operations to align with national goals and reduce reliance on imports. This expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting the green energy transition through homegrown manufacturing capacity.
