Nilabhra Dasgupta Appointed Deputy Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla

Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla has welcomed a new Deputy Chairman, Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS. A 2008-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service, Dasgupta brings with him over 13 years of distinguished service marked by a strong record in tax administration, enforcement, and infrastructure leadership.

Before joining Deendayal Port Authority, he held the post of Deputy Chairman at Paradip Port Authority. During his tenure there, he played a vital role in enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a collaborative atmosphere among stakeholders, particularly within unionized environments—a reflection of his adept managerial and interpersonal skills.

Dasgupta’s academic credentials are as versatile as his professional journey. He holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and has earned law degrees (LL.B. and LL.M.) from Gujarat University. Notably, he cleared the Civil Services Examination in his first attempt while pursuing a Direct Ph.D., underscoring his academic depth and commitment.

His portfolio over the years spans critical domains including corporate taxation, international taxation, infrastructure development, vigilance, and litigation management. He has played key roles in various capacities such as Additional Director (Investigation) with the Income Tax Department in Ahmedabad, where he led multiple complex enforcement operations and executed one of the largest cumulative cash seizures in Gujarat.

Dasgupta’s contribution to digital transformation includes developing a Litigation Management Software system, for which he received a Certificate of Merit. His experience in handling ITES-driven processes, especially in time-sensitive tax assessments and compliance environments, further adds to his multifaceted administrative capabilities.

Throughout his service, he has taken on several crucial responsibilities as Nodal Officer for various inter-agency and election monitoring roles, including surveillance, financial intelligence, and narcotics enforcement, demonstrating his ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes governance functions.
