Jindal Stainless supplies premium stainless steel for Bengaluru Metro Phase 2

Jindal Stainless has supplied premium 301N austenitic stainless steel for the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 project, marking a significant milestone in its contribution to the nation’s urban transport infrastructure. The yellow line under Phase 2 was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As part of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd’s (BMRCL) Phase 2 expansion, three trainsets from the CRRC–Titagarh Consortium were inducted into service earlier this year in August. The project involves 53 trainsets, reflecting the growing scale of Bengaluru’s metro network. To date, Jindal Stainless has supplied 1,031 mt of 301N stainless steel, with further deliveries planned. The supplied material, known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, fire and crash safety, and low carbon footprint, has been used in operational metro coaches, including roofs and structural parts.

Commenting on the development, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless said:
“We are proud to support the modernisation of India’s metro infrastructure, which is central to strengthening urban mobility and aligns with the nation’s vision of building resilient and sustainable transport systems. The use of 301N austenitic stainless steel, a safer and more sustainable material, supports the sustainability goals of modern rail transport. By supplying to the Bengaluru metro, we reaffirm our commitment to building safer, long-lasting, and sustainable metro networks.”

Jindal Stainless has been a key partner in metro and railway projects worldwide, supplying stainless steel for metro networks in Queensland, Melbourne, and Sydney through Alstom India, and contributing to nearly every Indian metro project.
