Tata Power EV Charging and VECV join forces to drive electric commercial mobility in India

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, has entered into a strategic collaboration with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India. The partnership will primarily focus on supporting the recently launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles, marking a significant milestone in advancing sustainable mobility solutions.

Under the memorandum of understanding, both companies will collaborate across multiple areas to assist truck and bus operators in integrating electric vehicles into their operations. Tata Power will leverage its expansive EV charging network and expertise in providing customized charging solutions, while VECV will apply its proficiency in energy efficiency to optimize power consumption in electric trucks, ensuring performance tailored to end-user needs.

The alliance aims to address key challenges such as range anxiety, availability of charging infrastructure, and operational costs, which have traditionally hindered the adoption of electric commercial vehicles. The partnership will also facilitate the deployment of additional models from Eicher’s growing electric vehicle portfolio, broadening the scope of sustainable mobility options available in the market.

This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to modernizing India’s commercial mobility landscape through innovation, infrastructure development, and sustainable practices. By combining advanced technologies with a customer-centric approach, TPEVCSL and VECV are poised to redefine the future of commercial transportation in India, fostering a cleaner and more efficient ecosystem.

Tata Power has significantly expanded its EV charging network under the ‘EZ Charge’ brand, now encompassing over 1.5 lakh home chargers, 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and 1,200 E-bus charging stations across more than 630 cities and towns. With over four lakh registered customers, Tata Power’s charging points are strategically located across highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, depots, and residential complexes — enabling seamless access and supporting India’s rapid transition toward electric mobility.
