The 11th edition of World of Concrete India 2025, a premier platform for the concrete and construction industry, concluded successfully at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, setting new benchmarks for innovation and sustainable growth in the sector.
Organised by Informa Markets in India, the three-day expo, held from October 8 to 10, witnessed participation from over 14,000 trade visitors, 350+ leading brands, and 250+ exhibitors, along with strong international representation from Korea, China, the USA, and Spain.
The grand inauguration saw the presence of key industry leaders and dignitaries, including Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC); Amar Choudhary, CEO, 1Lattice; Thomas Guillot, CEO, Global Cement and Concrete Association; Somenath Ghosh, Vice-President, Consulting Engineers Association of India; Rajendra Singh Kamboh, National President, Builders Association of India; Dr Vishal Ramesh Thombare, Deputy Chief Engineer Roads (Planning) (i/c), BMC; Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India; and Rajneesh Khattar, Group Director, Informa Markets in India.
The expo floor featured renowned exhibitors such as Jindal Panther Cement, JSW Cement, Godrej Construction, Sika India, UltraTech Cement, Fosroc Chemicals, Zydex Industries, Chryso Chemicals, Normet Chemicals, Neptune Industries, and Appollo Infratech Pvt Ltd, among others, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and sustainable construction materials.
Speaking at the event, Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD, MSIDC, emphasized the significance of knowledge sharing in the sector, stating, “Concrete stands at the core of modern infrastructure, yet remains one of the least understood materials, a gap that must be addressed for the benefit of all end users.”
Dr Vishal Ramesh Thombare, Deputy Chief Engineer Roads (Planning) (i/c), BMC, highlighted Mumbai’s rapid transformation through advanced materials and methods. “Mumbai’s road network spans 2,055 km, of which around 1,200 km have been concretized or white-topped, with plans to extend this across most roads in the next 2 to 3 years, making the city pothole-free,” he shared.
Representing the engineering community, Somenath Ghosh, Vice-President, Consulting Engineers Association of India, said, “Consulting engineers are integral to building sustainable and high-quality infrastructure across sectors such as transport, urban development, energy, buildings, and water resources.”
Adding to this, Rajendra Singh Kamboh, National President, Builders Association of India, underlined the association’s legacy and mission, stating, “The Builders Association of India (BAI), established in 1941, represents over two lakh construction houses across the country with 240+ branches, working closely with both central and state governments on policy formulation and implementation.”
On the future of the concrete industry, Amar Choudhary, CEO, 1Lattice, said, “Over the next decade, technologies like self-healing concrete, 3D printing, and ultra-high-performance materials will move from pilot to mainstream, redefining strength, efficiency, and durability standards.”
Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, reflected on the growing green transition, noting that, “With the cement industry accounting for nearly 6 per cent of India’s emissions, the transition towards eco-friendly solutions has become critical.”
Echoing the sentiment, Rajneesh Khattar, Sr. Group Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “India is entering a transformative phase in infrastructure development, marked by landmark projects such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport and Metro Line 3, both setting new benchmarks in connectivity and urban design.”
According to a recent Moody’s report, cement consumption in India is expected to grow by 50 per cent over the next five years, from 445 MMTPA in FY24 to 670 MMTPA by 2030, driven by government infrastructure push and rising housing demand.
The event received strong support from leading industry associations including NAREDCO Maharashtra, Builders Association of India (BAI), RMCMA, Precast Manufacturers Association of India (PMAI), Drycotec – Dry Mortar Association, Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association (AESA), Indian Concrete Institute (Pune Chapter) and Ferrocement Society (India).
