Telangana has outlined an expansive infrastructure programme exceeding Rs 60,799 crore, marking one of the state’s most ambitious road development drives to date. Backed by support from the Centre, the initiative focuses on strengthening national, regional, and rural connectivity to elevate Telangana’s economic and logistics landscape.
A key highlight of the plan is the proposed eight-lane upgrade of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway, set to be taken up at an estimated Rs 10,400 crore. The Regional Ring Road (RRR), pegged at around Rs 36,000 crore, forms another major component. Designed as a six-lane expressway, the RRR will encircle the state and provide seamless links to all districts, streamlining travel and cargo movement.
The package also includes a 52 km elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam, planned at nearly Rs 8,000 crore, aimed at easing travel to the region’s major pilgrimage and tourism zones. Another significant proposal is a greenfield highway connecting Bharat Future City with Rajahmundry Port, estimated to cost Rs 20,000 crore, which is expected to unlock new trade routes and support industrial expansion.
To complement these megaprojects, about Rs 11,000 crore has been earmarked for improvements to rural, mandal-level, and district roads, ensuring last-mile connectivity and smoother internal transport networks.
With this comprehensive road-building programme, the state intends to position itself as a competitive destination for global investors, draw multinational companies, and enhance job opportunities for local youth.
