Ashok Leyland has advanced its expansion strategy in the Middle East with a formal entry into Qatar. The company has partnered with FAMCO Qatar, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, marking a significant step in its regional growth vision. This development follows Ashok Leyland’s successful foray into Saudi Arabia in 2024 through a similar alliance with FAMCO KSA.
The partnership was officially unveiled at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre and reflects the growing alignment between Ashok Leyland and Al-Futtaim in supporting transport and logistics enhancements across the Gulf region. With Qatar steadily upgrading its infrastructure ecosystem, the collaboration positions Ashok Leyland to serve a broad spectrum of mobility needs.
Ashok Leyland’s entry brings to Qatar a well-established legacy of over seven decades in commercial vehicle manufacturing. The company will offer its widely recognised product portfolio, including the Falcon and Oyster buses, known for their safety and passenger comfort, along with the Boss and Partner trucks that cater to light- and medium-duty requirements. These vehicles are engineered to deliver durability, fuel efficiency, and cost-effective performance—key priorities for fleet operators, logistics providers, and small businesses in the region.
A notable introduction to the Qatari market is Ashok Leyland’s range of Electric Buses, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious mobility solutions.
Speaking at the event, Rajesh R, Head of International Operations, Ashok Leyland, stated:
“Today is a proud moment as we introduce Ashok Leyland’s best-in-class commercial vehicles in Qatar, in partnership with FAMCO Qatar and the Al-Futtaim Group. Our presence here extends our proven track record in the Middle East and reflects our deep commitment to shaping the future of mobility in these markets. Together, we are poised to deliver lasting value through reliable uptime, world-class aftersales support, and a focus on innovation and sustainability.”
Echoing this sentiment, Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment, added:
“Ashok Leyland is a brand built on trust and progress. Following our success in Saudi Arabia, we are proud to bring that impact to Qatar — a nation investing in its infrastructure, its people, and its future. With Ashok Leyland’s trusted range, including the new Electric Buses, and today’s debut of FAMCO Qatar, we are helping shape a more connected, more sustainable tomorrow for Qatar’s businesses and communities.”
With the support of FAMCO Qatar’s service infrastructure and a focus on long-term operational value, the partnership is positioned to enrich Qatar’s transport and logistics landscape while strengthening Ashok Leyland’s presence across the Middle East.
