Tata Motors has unveiled one of its most expansive commercial vehicle product portfolios to date, introducing a new generation of trucks spanning the 7-55 ton range. The rollout represents a major advancement in the company’s truck business, with a sharp focus on safety compliance, operational efficiency, electrification and digitally enabled fleet performance.
At the centre of the launch is the all-new Azura Series, developed specifically for the intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) segment. Positioned in the 7-19 ton category, the Azura range is designed for applications such as e-commerce distribution, FMCG logistics, construction material transport and regional haulage. The trucks are powered by a newly developed 3.6-ltr diesel engine aimed at improving reliability, driving comfort and productivity in urban and medium-haul operations.
Alongside Azura, Tata Motors has refreshed its established Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms with comprehensive upgrades. The entire truck portfolio has now been engineered to comply with ECE R29-03 crash-safety regulations, covering frontal, side-impact and rollover protection. This aligns the range with stringent European safety standards and marks a significant step forward in structural safety for Indian trucks.
The upgraded portfolio integrates up to 23 active safety features, including advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure alerts and collision mitigation technologies. These systems are further supported by real-time driver behaviour analytics through the company’s Fleet Edge digital platform.
On the performance front, engineering enhancements have enabled payload gains of up to 1.8 ton in select models. Drivetrain improvements, including offerings powered by the 6.7-ltr Cummins engine, deliver fuel efficiency improvements of up to 7 per cent, strengthening fleet profitability and lowering operating costs.
A major highlight of the launch is the introduction of Tata Trucks.ev, the company’s dedicated electric truck portfolio built on the new Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle (I-MOEV) architecture. Covering the full spectrum from 7 to 55 tonnes, the electric range includes the Ultra EV in multiple configurations, the Prima E.55S electric prime mover, and the Prima E.28K electric tipper designed for mining and construction applications. These vehicles feature high-capacity battery systems, indigenous battery management technology and deep localisation.
The electric truck ecosystem is supported by tailored charging solutions, customised financing options and integrated service support, aimed at accelerating the adoption of zero-emission freight transport in India.
The entire next-generation range is backed by Sampoorna Seva 2.0, Tata Motors’ enhanced service framework offering round-the-clock support, annual maintenance contracts, predictive maintenance solutions and structured driver training programmes.
With this multi-segment launch, Tata Motors has strengthened its commercial vehicle portfolio across conventional and electric powertrains, setting new benchmarks in safety, efficiency and sustainable mobility for India’s evolving logistics and infrastructure landscape.
