Balkrishna Industries Ltd (BKT), long recognised globally for its leadership in the Off-Highway Tyre (OHT) segment, has formally entered India’s consumer tyre market with the introduction of its On-Highway portfolio. The move marks a strategic diversification for the company, extending its presence beyond its traditional stronghold into fast-growing two-wheeler and commercial vehicle tyre categories.
The newly introduced portfolio includes tyres designed for scooters, motorcycles, and Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV), signalling BKT’s intent to participate in both consumer and replacement markets. Alongside the product launch, the company also unveiled its national brand campaign, ‘Elevate Your Drive’, featuring actor and brand ambassador Ranveer Singh, marking its focused entry into the consumer mobility space.
In parallel with this expansion, BKT introduced a revised brand architecture under its corporate identity, ‘BKT – Growing Together’. The structure comprises two verticals: BKT Tyres, which will encompass its complete tyre range across Off-Highway and On-Highway segments, and BKT Carbon, dedicated to its carbon black and industrial materials business. The company said this alignment reflects its transformation into an integrated mobility and materials enterprise.
The announcement was made in the presence of Arvind Poddar, Chairman and Managing Director, BKT; Rajiv Poddar, Joint Managing Director, BKT; Satish Sharma, Senior President and Director – Business Development and Strategy, BKT; Lucia Salmaso, Managing Director, BKT Europe; and Mahesh Koppad, Chief Marketing Officer – India, BKT Tyres.
Arvind Poddar, Chairman & Managing Director, BKT, said, “Our entry into the on highway segment is a natural extension of BKT’s purpose – to support India’s evolving mobility needs with products engineered for real world conditions. We are building on decades of manufacturing discipline to offer tyres that deliver safety, reliability, and value. Guided by BKT – Growing Together, we aim to be a dependable partner for consumers, distributors and dealers.”
Rajiv Poddar, Joint Managing Director, BKT, added, “BKT’s foray into the on-highway tyre segment is a strategic milestone under our Vision 2030 – an India led initiative to scale responsibly and expand our mobility footprint. Our approach balances ambition with discipline, where we aim to grow while protecting profitability and maintaining our engineering excellence. With a defined revenue roadmap of Rs 23,000 crore by 2030 – a 2.2x increase from FY25 levels, this measured growth, is built on clarity, capability, and long term commitment.”
Satish Sharma, Senior President and Director – Business Development and Strategy, BKT, said, “As we step into a new phase of growth, our focus remains unwavering on delivering durability, mileage, comfort and advanced performance across 2 Wheeler, Truck Bus Radial, Passenger and Light Truck categories, backed by deep customer insights and a commitment to product leadership. We are proud to pioneer industry first initiatives – whether it is pure distribution play ensuring wide reach with zero channel conflict, our ‘Journey Assistance Program’ for riders, or transformative programs like ‘Save the Casing’ and market leading end user loyalty platforms. Our goal is clear – to achieve a 5 per cent market share by FY30 through a disciplined, India led strategy based on product leadership, distribution strength, and consumer trust.”
As part of its initial rollout, BKT introduced two new tyre lines for the two-wheeler segment — BKT ZENOVA and BKT THYROS. While ZENOVA has been developed for urban commuting with a focus on comfort, grip, and handling, THYROS is designed to perform across mixed on-road and off-road riding conditions. Both products are manufactured in India and have undergone comprehensive validation processes, including durability testing and vehicle-level performance assessments at government-approved facilities such as NATRAX in Indore. The tyres also comply with BIS certification requirements.
The company is also preparing to expand its presence in the commercial vehicle segment with the launch of BKT m.Loadxpert and BKT Milexpert RG radial tyres, scheduled for introduction in the first quarter of FY2026–27. These products have been engineered for demanding applications such as construction logistics, cement transport, and regional cargo operations, with an emphasis on durability, casing strength, and retreadability.
BKT stated that the new On-Highway portfolio will be introduced through its nationwide distributor and dealer network in a phased manner, supported by digital platforms aimed at enhancing service responsiveness and customer engagement.
To support its broader mobility ambitions, the company has committed an investment of Rs 3,500 crore to expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen research and development, enhance vertical integration through its carbon business, and widen its distribution footprint.
Under its Vision 2030 roadmap, BKT aims to achieve total revenue of approximately Rs 23,000 crore by FY30. The projected revenue mix is expected to comprise around 70 per cent from Off-Highway tyres, 10 per cent from carbon black, and 20 per cent from the newly introduced On-Highway tyre segment, reflecting the company’s long-term strategy to build a diversified and sustainable growth platform.
