Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor launched with Rs 2,360 cr investment

Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor launched

The foundation stone for the Rs 2,360 crore Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor has been laid in Madhya Pradesh, marking a major push toward industrial expansion and regional connectivity in the state. The project will span over 20 km and connect key industrial zones between Indore and Pithampur.

A notable aspect of the project is its land pooling model, under which farmers whose land is acquired will receive 60% of the developed land parcels in return. The state government said the initiative is aimed at ensuring long-term participation of farmers in the region’s economic growth rather than offering only one-time monetary compensation. Officials noted that the redistributed developed plots are expected to carry significant future value.

The corridor is designed to strengthen industrial activity across sectors including automobile manufacturing, textiles, engineering, warehousing, and agro-processing. It will also improve connectivity with major transport networks such as National Highway-47, National Highway-52, and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, enabling faster logistics movement and supporting industrial investment in the region.

The proposed corridor includes an eight-lane roadway, future expansion buffer zones, and planned development across more than 1,300 hectares. Authorities expect the project to generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities as industrial activity expands along the corridor.

The Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor is expected to emerge as a key industrial and logistics link in central India, supporting Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to strengthen its position as a growing manufacturing and investment destination.
