Andhra Pradesh Council of Ministers has approved a slew of new development projects, including Rs 1,000 crore Vizag Beach Corridor project to make Visakhapatnam the premier tourist destination in the state. The Vizag Beach Corridor project, connecting the heritage town Bheemili with the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, will see an investment of Rs 1,021 crore. The Bheemili-Bhogapuram stretch of 19.66 km will be a six-lane access-controlled greenfield road for friction-free movement expressway.

The Vizag Beach Corridor project will have smart road elements such as bicycle tracks of 2.2 m each side; pedestrian walkways of 1.8 m each side; high standard street furniture with landscaping, smart poles including LED streetlights, CCTV, public WiFi and sensors; and much more. The project would include hanging suspension bridges over the river Gosthani at two locations. The riverfront area near the bridges on the river Gosthani would be developed as urban recreation zones.
