Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has launched a new business vertical by the name ‘Make in India (MII) Business Development Group’. The idea is to consolidate recent steps taken to achieve the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. This includes an expression of interest (EoI) inviting global manufacturing companies to leverage on BHEL facilities to set up a manufacturing base in India and efforts towards indigenisation of major imports in the capital goods sector. The vertical is charged with the responsibility of identifying products currently being imported by the company as well as the country, which can be developed or manufactured by BHEL, identifying opportunities for increased in-house manufacturing in the company, and working with global OEMs for Make in India-Make for the World.
