Birla Carbon, a pioneer in sustainable carbon solutions, has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its carbon black production capacity by over 240 kMT, bolstering its commitment to market growth and key customer support. The strategic expansion will see the establishment of cutting-edge manufacturing facilities in Naidupet, Andhra Pradesh, India, and Rayong, Thailand.
John Loudermilk, President and Chief Executive Officer, Birla Carbon, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s extended footprint, stating, “We are excited to augment our expansion plans in support of key customers in the fast-growing markets of India and Southeast Asia. These two new state-of-the-art factories will ensure a secure supply of our industry-leading products, quality, and service, allowing our customers to meet their growth ambitions.”
Scheduled for operational readiness in 2025, each of the new facilities will commence with an initial capacity of 120 kMT, with future plans for expansion to reach an impressive 240 kMT. The selection of Naidupet and Rayong as greenfield sites is guided by strategic considerations, including location advantages, regional demand dynamics, and the specific requirements of valued customers. Simultaneously, Birla Carbon remains committed to previously announced brownfield expansion projects in Hungary and the enhancement of Specialty capacity at the Patalganga facility in India.
