JCBL Marrel Tippers unveils rooftop solar facility at Chennai plant

JCBL Marrel Tippers Ltd's inauguration of a rooftop solar facility in Chennai reflects a commendable commitment to sustainability.

In a resounding commitment to environmental responsibility, JCBL Marrel Tippers Ltd (JML), a JCBL Group company, unveiled its state-of-the-art rooftop solar facility at its Chennai unit. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Rishi Aggarwal, Managing Director of JCBL Group, celebrated the successful completion of the first phase of this groundbreaking initiative.

With an initial investment of Rs 1.2 crore, the inaugural phase of the rooftop solar project underscores JML’s unwavering dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and embracing renewable energy solutions. The entire project boasts an impressive capacity of 1,500 KW, requiring a total investment of 6 crore rupees. Once fully operational, the facility is poised to generate a remarkable 7,500 units of electricity daily, surpassing the daily consumption needs of the plant.

The surplus power generated during operational hours will not go to waste; instead, it will be seamlessly integrated into the power grid, rendering the unit self-sufficient and contributing to additional revenue streams for the company. This surplus electricity will also be sold externally, further bolstering JML’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Rishi Aggarwal, MD, JCBL Group, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “With the installation of the solar panels, we are one step closer to reducing our carbon footprint. Sustainability is a core value that drives our operations at JCBL Group. We endeavour to create a positive impact while still serving our stakeholders and achieving our business goals. The successful realisation of this project is a testament to the collective dedication of JML’s team members and the unwavering support of its stakeholders, reflecting our shared vision for sustainability.”

JML aims to generate approximately 1,500 units of electricity daily from 9 am to 6 pm in the first phase, meeting 50 per cent of the unit’s daytime power requirements. This remarkable initiative not only aligns with global efforts to combat climate change but also positions JML as a pioneer in the adoption of sustainable energy solutions within the industry.

As the company takes this significant leap in its sustainability journey, it sets an inspiring example for other businesses to follow suit, emphasising the pivotal role corporations play in creating a greener and more sustainable future.
