Mahindra Logistics Ltd is set to inaugurate a cutting-edge 1.1 lakh sq ft fulfilment centre in Malda, West Bengal. This facility is poised to revolutionise the logistics landscape in the region, focusing on efficient fulfilment and last-mile deliveries.
The centre, tailored to cater to the burgeoning demands of grocery and e-commerce customers, is a pivotal component of Mahindra Logistics’ holistic logistics solutions. This expansion includes the establishment of 14 last-mile delivery stations, reaching approximately 15,000 households daily.
Strategically positioned to serve Northern West Bengal, Eastern Bihar, and parts of the Northeast, the fulfilment centre boasts a daily processing capacity of 10,000 orders and an inventory capacity exceeding 15 lakh units. This ensures timely and streamlined deliveries, meeting and surpassing the growing demands of the region.
In addition to bolstering the logistics network, the new facility will generate over 750 job opportunities, with a commitment to diversity by aiming to fill 25 per cent of the roles with women and individuals from the PwD and LGBTQIA+ communities. This expansion aligns with Mahindra Logistics’ vision to contribute to the economic growth of tier-II and tier-III cities.
Rampraveen Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO, Mahindra Logistics, expressed his enthusiasm about the new facility, stating, “Our new facility in Malda is strategically positioned in proximity to the demand centres, servicing the customers through end-to-end fulfilment and last-mile delivery solutions. It aligns with our vision of providing integrated supply chain solutions to our customers pan India as well as expands our operations in tier-II and tier-III cities.”
He further emphasised the company’s commitment to delivering top-notch service quality and facilitating swift and dependable deliveries nationwide. Swaminathan underscored the significance of the fulfilment centre in contributing to the government’s initiative to transform the eastern region into a powerful driver of India’s economic growth.
