MAN Industries achieves breakthrough in safe hydrogen transport

MAN Industries achieves milestone in safe hydrogen transportation, paving the way for a sustainable future.

In a groundbreaking achievement, MAN Industries proudly announces the successful testing of its pipes for safe hydrogen transportation. The rigorous examination, conducted by RINA Consulting – Centro Sviluppo Materiali S.p.A, Italy, signifies a crucial milestone in overcoming a significant obstacle in the global shift towards a hydrogen-based ecosystem.

Hydrogen, recognized worldwide for its pivotal role in decarbonising industries and fostering a cleaner energy system, has faced challenges in efficient transportation to the point of use. MAN Industries addresses this issue head-on with its pipes, which have passed the Hydrogen Service test. This certification ensures structural integrity and safety, mitigating concerns related to hydrogen’s unique ability to permeate materials more easily than other gases due to its small molecule size.

The importance of this achievement is underscored by the growing global commitment to hydrogen’s transformative role. International collaborations, such as the partnership agreement between the International Hydrogen Trade Forum (IHTF) and the Hydrogen Council, reflect a collective effort from countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, and others to embrace hydrogen’s potential.

Nikhil Mansukhani, Managing Director at MAN Industries, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This successful test underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability. This safe Hydrogen transportation certification is a significant step towards zero emissions and energy independence. Aligned with India’s renewable energy goals, we’re proud to contribute to the nation’s journey by solving a critical puzzle in hydrogen gas transport. It’s not just our accomplishment; it’s a proud moment for the entire nation.”

In India, where the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has set ambitious targets of energy independence by 2047 and net zero by 2070, the breakthrough reaffirms MAN Industries’ commitment to driving positive change in the energy landscape. This achievement marks a giant leap towards a sustainable and hydrogen-powered future, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals and showcasing the nation’s dedication to embracing innovative solutions. MAN Industries stands at the forefront of ushering in a new era, where hydrogen plays a key role in achieving a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable tomorrow.
